Presence: Made, Not Born

High Performance Presentations Coaching (previously known as Executive Presentations Coaching). He’d been through it before – presentation courses, frameworks, international trainers. He even had a preferred provider – someone he’d worked with, and requested again. But this time, HR suggested a different path. A fresh approach. One-on-one. Tailored to how he thinks, what he presents, and who he’s presenting to.

Naturally, he was skeptical. This was a senior leader – Head of Cybersecurity in the government-linked pension investment sector. He’d tried several interventions. None had stuck. Not in the boardroom. Not in how his message landed. Then came his session with High Performance Presentations Coaching. Afterward, he wrote: “I believe that with good technique and sound advice, I can become a better presenter. This programme shared impressive techniques that made my life easier – in designing and delivering my presentations.”

But it wasn’t just the techniques. It was the shift in mindset. Instead of being handed a list of best practices, he was handed a mirror. The session invited reflection – not just on delivery, but on intention. On presence. On what was holding him back – and what had always been there. “He helped me identify my inner strength to overcome my weaknesses by discussing them upfront,” he said. “Plus, I like the aura – and how to use that as an example.”

That last line says everything. He wasn’t trying to imitate. He was anchoring in something deeper – using presence as a reference, not a performance. And that’s what this coaching is built to do. It doesn’t turn people into “slick” presenters. It helps them become more of who they already are – with structure, clarity, and leadership that’s felt. As Carmine Gallo said: “Great communicators are made, not born.” And when someone walks in doubtful, but walks out clearer, calmer, and more intentional – you know the work is real.
