We started with eight. By the end, only three remained. But those three? They were present. Committed. Energised. And somehow, the session still felt full.
This was The Business Storyteller™ – a newly launched, full 2-day programme, offered complimentary to HR professionals from various organisations. Not a teaser. Not a sampler. The entire experience, delivered virtually.
The design of the programme was tested that day. Participants came and went, pulled away by the demands of their roles. By the end, only three stayed through to the final segment – and yet, engagement deepened. Focus sharpened. Curiosity rose. That’s not luck. That’s structure.
The programme’s flow – from character and conflict to message and resolution – helped them shape their own stories. Even with staggered attendance, each participant could latch onto something powerful, useful, and real. As one learner put it: “Even though there were only three of us at the end, it felt like a full house. We got the full experience.”
They stayed late. Asked questions. Debated how storytelling could shift not just presentations – but how they showed up as HR leaders. The class didn’t run “lite” just because the numbers dropped. It ran full-strength. Every module, every prompt, every opportunity to practice. And what surfaced by the end was something richer than expected:
- Clarity around the shape of a business story – conflict, change, resolution
- Realisation that presence and structure beat charisma
- A reminder that even a fragmented experience can leave a complete, sticky message
The session became a lived example of one of the programme’s key lessons: Even if the training experience isn’t perfect, the story you walk away with should stick. That’s what happens when programmes are designed for transformation – not just delivery. When impact isn’t dependent on numbers. And when the trainer shows up like every learner matters.
