What happens when your key contact suddenly leaves in the middle of a multi-programme engagement? That’s exactly what we experienced with a global energy company last year.
In late 2023, we agreed on six programme runs for 2024, including Presentations Alive! and The Case Maker. The first session was delivered successfully in August 2024. A week later, their main Talent Management Specialist – the person who brought us in – left the organisation. The immediate impact? Communication stalled, invoices were delayed, and several sessions were postponed.
But the story didn’t end there. By maintaining strong follow-ups and connecting with multiple stakeholders, we were able to secure payment of overdue invoices and rebuilt momentum for the training pipeline.
Key takeaway for L&D leaders: Turnover is inevitable. What matters is building resilient partnerships that don’t rely on a single champion. Multi-level relationships ensure that training programmes stay on track.
