Wan Abdul Matiin

He specialises in guiding professionals to develop compelling, data-driven presentations that effectively deliver complex information. He equips participants to go beyond passive data presentation to confident, insightful storytelling.
Before pivoting his career to learning and development, Matiin worked in sustainability, technology, and education delivery (K-12 and beyond). This led him to deeply appreciate the interplay between psychology, learning science, design, and technology in helping people to grow.
Together with a team of science communicators, he has contributed to “Science Communication in Practice: a Training-of-Trainers Module” for STEM professionals seeking to sharpen their science communication skills, published by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia. Along with his effort to bridge gaps in K-12 and higher education delivery, this marks his commitment to transformative learning for all learners.
Academic Background
Matiin is formally trained in sustainability and the life sciences (MSc in Water and Environmental Engineering, BSc in Environmental Biotechnology). He draws strength from his cross-disciplinary ventures, which taught him the value of systems thinking and balancing technical expertise with astute interpersonal skills.
Community Involvement
Throughout his career, Matiin has contributed to various community efforts ranging from establishing Urban Hijau (a sustainable farm in Malaysia’s capital), tutoring refugee students seeking to reintegrate into mainstream education, and training public school teachers in meeting their students’ core literacy and numeracy needs. Matiin’s dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of others is a testament to his leadership skills and his commitment to personal and professional growth of individuals.
