Choong Yin, Lee

Since January 2024, he has been the Head of our Leadership and Management Practice Area. Currently, he is also a member of the Organisation Development & Strategy team. Under the mentorship of our Director of Training Quality, he led our Community of Practice (CoP) for trainers, facilitators, coaches, and instructional design practitioners. At the Community of Practice, he develops the facilitation and design skills of our facilitators.

When Choong Yin wears his trainer’s hat, he specialises in facilitating programmes in our suite of collaboration programmes that include:

Before this, he was heavily involved in humanitarian, community and environmental projects that took him to Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Middle East, and various hard-to-reach locations throughout Malaysia – where he focused his efforts teaching at-risk communities on how to communicate effectively. Through such international and local work, his expertise expanded into areas of biomarine, training, and instructional design.

His diverse background makes him a special kind of facilitator: he sees nuances, appreciates complexity, and he can distinguish patterns in complex situations. He brings to the training room a strong blend: a conceptual and analytical mind – and a mind that is quick to grasp where his learners are and what they need to deepen their learning.

Growing up around books, he reads at least a book a month, covering a wide range of literature and topics such as science fiction, scientific journals, history, philosophy, psychology, classic plays and epics, and architecture, among others. It adds layers to his training delivery, which is rather uncommon.
